What are the common subterranean termite treatment methods?
Subterranean, or ground termites, are treated with baits, soil treatments,
and wood treatments. Baits work by killing termites when the bait is shared with
the termite colony.
Soil treatments are either repellants or non-repellants. Repellant soil treatments
form a barrier around the house. This type of treatment is normally used
in new construction. Non-repellant soil treatments allow termites to cross the treated
area so that they may carry toxic particles back to the colony.
Wood treatments are applied directly to wood, causing termites avoid it.
In some cases, these treatments may also be toxic to termites that attempt to feed
on it.
