- What are the common subterranean termite treatment methods?
-
Subterranean, or ground termites, are treated with baits, soil treatments,
and wood treatments. Baits work by killing termites when the bait is shared with
the termite colony. -
Soil treatments are either repellants or non-repellants. Repellant soil treatments
form a barrier around the house. This type of treatment is normally used
in new construction. Non-repellant soil treatments allow termites to cross the treated
area so that they may carry toxic particles back to the colony. -
Wood treatments are applied directly to wood, causing termites avoid it.
In some cases, these treatments may also be toxic to termites that attempt to feed
on it. -
